Bristol

Salut

Hello!

Even though the Mongol Rally 2019 has not officially started, the story of my adventure and that of the 1000 smiles has begun, maybe when the moment, the idea of participating came to me, or the moment I signed up and paid, it doesn’t really matter… what matters is that the preparation is in full swing, there are some small obstacles on the way, but nothing huge enough to stop the process. The applications for the visas needed to enter Iran, Turkmenistan and Kyrghistan have been submitted, the next ones are to be dealt with (thank you, Leo Alexa), the car is torn apart, waiting on 2 wooden pallets to go into surgery by the skilled hands of “the doctors” of ArtGaraj. I don’t have a tent or a mattress, but I do have a small cooker :)), the budget is in an unclear situation, but I do have so many personalized t-shirts, magnets and other stuff. And I also have too much.. impatience. I am impatient for the journey to begin. And it actually almost began. I went to Bristol, UK, last weekend, for a meeting with some of the participants at the Mongol Rally 2019, on which occasion I got to meet some great people, including some veterans of the rally, who gave a lot of good advice and, well… a lot of beer. Many beers and shots were drank. The people were amazing, the party was great, and I can’t wait to meet them all again at the official start of the Mongol Rally 2019. they are now a part of the 1000 smiles (around 40 of them). To wrap this up, I really need to ask you to forgive the potential clumsiness, in my journey I will be using an iPhone to both take the photos and edit them, so they will definitely not be perfect, but your smiles will most certainly be.

To be continued…
